US President Joe Biden has suggested Congress pass a three-month “gas tax holiday” in a bid to address rising petrol prices for frustrated drivers across America.
Mr Biden said a “gas tax holiday” will provide some immediate relief for families.
If enacted the move would suspend the federal gas tax for the next 90 days.
Members of the US President’s own party have cast doubt on his proposal to cut petrol prices as the president delivered a message to oil companies.
“This is a time of war, global peril … Ukraine … these are not normal times,” Mr Biden said.
“Bring down the price you are charging at the pump to reflect the cost you are paying for the product … do it now.”
