Speaking on The Last Word on the Spurs YouTube channel, Lyle Thomas, a Sky Sports journalist, discusses his interest in Tottenham and Jade Spence.

The north London outfit has been linked with the Middlesbrough defender for some time, and according to Thomas, talks have begun between the two clubs.

There have been early talks between Spurs and Borough, and according to Thomas, Tottenham is just £5m less than Borough’s valuation.

Thomas shares everything he knows about Spence and Spurs.

“That conversation from Spurs’ point of view was, ‘That’s where we value Spence, what’s your assessment?’ Tottenham were valued at around £10m with a few add-ons, while Middlesbrough was valued at around £15m with extras. How many extras remains to be seen and this is another factor potentially complicating things. £ 15m seems like a reasonable starting fee, but it is about how much Middlesbrough wants in extras,” said Thomas.

get it done

If Tottenham need to spend another £5m to land Spence, all they need to do is deposit cash.

Yes, as Thomas says, add-ons are also an issue, but it’s very rare that you find a deal that has a ridiculous number of add-ons that turn the shopping party off.

The ‘strong’ wing-back has been Tottenham’s target for some time, and as a young, homely option, he could be worth more than £15m in a matter of months.

Tottenham should pursue the deal.
