WATCH| Lone Hyena Squares Off With Five Wild Dogs

One lone, hungry hyena encountered the worst day of its life after it squared off with five wild dogs in the wild.

Four of the five wild dogs had earlier wandered in the jungle and met an impala. The canines chased the springing animal and caught it right by the river after it had tried to escape there.

The wild dogs viciously tore the hapless animal, tearing off its intestines before it died. They like their food very fresh, so they disembowel and eat prey while it’s still alive.

The dogs managed to drag the impala into the bush as they ripped off its flesh with each bite.

Unlike wild dogs, hyenas scavenge for animal carcasses left over by predators.

One hyena left its clan and strayed in the jungle, looking for food. As it wandered, it met the five wild dogs which were devouring the impala.

The dogs had dropped some flesh along the way, and the hyena stopped on one spot a few metres from the pack so it could eat. The hyena minded its own business and never bothered going towards the wild dogs.

One wild dog notices the hyena and cautiously starts eating. Unsure of what the hyena might end up doing, it growls as it jumps in the direction of the hyena to signal a warning for it to back off.

The hyena slightly retreats, then continues eating. A few moments later, the wild dog then growls as a signal for the other dogs to be in a position to attack.

The pack leaves the prey and stands together. The wild dogs go toward the hyena, and one alpha male delivers a swift bite to the scavenger’s nose.

The other wild dogs then attack the lone hyena, yelling in pain as it tries to fight off the tight canine grip.

Despite being bigger than the wild dogs, the hyena writhes and squirms to no avail.

Wild dogs have 42 teeth, larger than any other dog species. Despite being smaller, a wild hyena’s bite is more powerful than a hyena’s.

As the alpha male maintains its grip, other wild dogs steal painful bites on the unlucky hyena.

The hyena then lies down, and in a spirited effort, it manages to get off the wild dog’s bite and runs away—another lucky day.
