Ex-wife calls him a “devil” Yaser Said, a father from Texas, spoke out about the “honour killings” of girls who dated American boys.
A man in Texas is on trial for killing his two daughters in what are called “honour killings” because they were dating American boys. On Thursday, the girls’ mother called the man the “devil” in court and told of 15 years of abuse during her marriage to the man.
Yaser Said’s ex-wife, Patricia Owens, hadn’t seen him since New Year’s Day 2008, when he took their daughters Amina, 18, and Sarah, 17, to dinner and insisted on going alone so they could talk.
Prosecutors say that instead, Said shot the girls multiple times in the cab he was driving and left them for dead in front of a hotel in Irving, a suburb.
Owens said in court that she and the girls had just come back from Oklahoma, where they had gone to get away from Said, to their home in Lewisville, Texas. She said in court that she knew the girls were dating and that Said would have been furious if he had known.
