Former Hillsong pastor Carl Lentz breaks silence

Former celebrity pastor Carl Lentz has broken his silence on social media, declaring his family is still together after suffering through recent controversies.

Lentz was sensationally sacked from his post as Hillsong NYC pastor in 2020 after it was revealed he had been involved in an affair with designer Ranin Karim.

After his firing, Hillsong engaged lawyers from a New York law firm, Zukerman Gore Brandeis & Crossman, to investigate what went wrong at Hillsong NYC and the church’s US network.

The organisation had filed a report to the church in 2021 which until early 2022 had remained confidential.

Addressing his 600,000 followers this week, Lentz posted a short life update, explaining how “it’s been a challenging road” for his family “but we are alive”.

“We are at peace and thanks to the grace of God we are TOGETHER,” he wrote.

“Not sure what the future holds for us, but we do know that we face it as a family and for that I am so thankful.

“My deepest thanks to our friends and family that have shown us such unconditional love and grace when we have desperately needed it. Forever grateful.. we are hopeful about what is ahead!”

In March, Mr Lentz‘s Australian wife, and mother to his three children spoke out after the investigation into Hillsong East Coast was leaked.

“My family has remained silent throughout this ordeal because our priority has been the healing of our family,” she wrote on Instagram.

“This does not mean we do not have a lot to say! When the time is right, we have a lot to say about what has happened as well as speaking directly to the RELENTLESS lies, accusations and hypocritical scapegoating that has sadly been so prevalent.

“Until then, we are so grateful for the constant support of so many. Your kindness has meant the world to us. We are looking forward to a brighter day!”
