During the interview, Susanna asked Anton if he would consider taking over as a judge on the US show Dancing With The Stars after Len Goodman recently announced his retirement.

However, Anton doesn’t think he’ll be on the panel for the American show anytime soon and would always pick Strictly first.

He said: ‘Well, one is just a phone call away. But no, I doubt that will happen. I would never choose that one over this one, but I guess I wouldn’t get the call.

‘I think you would have to choose one or the other and for me it’s always here.’

Anton was also asked about Kym Marsh, who had to pull out of this weekend’s show because he tested positive for covid-19.

The judge said, ‘She’s getting beautiful, I love her dance style.’ We will miss her this weekend because she has to go through protocol, but I hope she’s okay.

Meanwhile, former judge Bruno Tonioli is set to make a surprise return to Strictly Come Dancing for the Christmas special.

But MailOnline has learned that Bruno plans to appear in the show’s Christmas Special and will be singing instead of putting on a dance show.

The source said: ‘Bruno loves to sing. He made an opera album called An Italian Romance in 2016, and who knows, it could turn into a new career for him.

A Strictly spokesperson told MailOnline: “Strictly are still working on all plans for the Christmas special so we won’t be commenting on this at this time.”

The Italian choreographer quit the show after 18 years in May, admitting that flying back and forth between the UK and the US for the show had become “too much” for him.
