While clearing snow in one of his industrial snow plows at his farm, Renner was injured on Sunday and airlifted to hospital, where he is in a “critical but stable” condition.

A heavy machinery enthusiast, Renner owns a number of snow plows that he uses to clean his long private driveway and roads and trails in his area. The Hawkeye actor has been complaining about heavy snowfall due to unprecedented winter storms gripping the US.

Renner revealed in 2021 that he was building a firehouse near his home near Lake Tahoe, which he moved to nine years ago, because it’s a “hot zone for fires.”

“There’s been a fire less than half a mile from where my house is. Pretty threatening,” said Renner, who is a trained volunteer firefighter Men’s health November 2021.

“I use fire trucks for defensible space and for protecting my neighborhood, all the people up there.”

He has spent hours refurbishing some 200 vehicles, including fire engines, vans, an ambulance that he is converting into a veterinary clinic, and numerous city buses that he will convert into mobile homes.

“It’s not a horse ranch,” Renner said Men’s health in November 2021. “It’s more like a horse farm.”

Renner, who became an honorary deputy of the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office in 2018, also works with area fire departments to help fight blazing wildfires in the summer months.

“I work with the fire department there and they’re pretty awesome,” Renner told the 2021 Kelly Clarkson Show. “They’re teaching me and helping me, and I still need to put in some hours with them.”

Renner has also built a recording studio in his ranch and estimates he has written about 1,000 songs to date. Social media footage shows Renner playing guitar on a sofa in his recording studio.

Renner’s nine-year-old daughter Ava, whom he shares with his ex-wife Sonni Pacheco, has her own bedroom on the ranch, with her teddy bears filling the room.

Renner moved into his home in Reno about nine years ago, and he says he stays there because of the strong community spirit and “majestic” mountains.

“In a big city, it’s hard to find community and even know your neighbors in a big city, but with Reno, I find I know quite a few people here. It’s just big enough, and it’s just small enough for me, and I love it,” Renner told the Reno Gazette Journal in 2019.

Renner first visited the area as a child on family vacations and spent hours skiing. He now teaches all the kids in his family to ski in the Lake Tahoe area.

He also gives back a lot to the community, with the actor bringing his nine-year-old daughter Ava, whom he shares with his ex-wife Sonni Pacheco, to Reno to serve food and hand out warm clothes to the homeless on Thanksgiving in 2019.

A month later, Renner and more than 200 volunteers went shopping at a Walmart in South Reno with 250 underprivileged children. Each child received a $200 pocket money, which they used to buy clothes and toys for themselves and their families.
